When the Dot NET universal TLD was first set up in 1985, along with the first domains on the World Wide Web, it was intended to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure firms. Because there were no specific conditions about the usage of the TLD, though, .NET domains were registered and used for diverse purposes and by lots of people. This TLD is a perfect alternative to .COM, notably if the desired domain with the latter TLD is not available for registration.

You can easily update the WHOIS info of the domain through your Control Panel, or, if you don't wish this information to be accessible at all, you can order a Whois Privacy Protection service, so no one will be able to view your real contact info.
